Job Description

Designs new products and makes improvements to existing products. May evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability and ensure project completion.

Works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner. Requires a bachelor`s degree in area of specialty and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field`s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

The VMware Admin is responsible for implementing, tuning and maintaining VMware-based solutions. A successful candidate will have knowledge of VMware 6.0 or higher using Virtual Center for administration. The VMware Admin is responsible for the day to day administrative and operations activities for VMware vCenter.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for implementing, tuning and maintaining VMware-based solutions;
  • Implements VMware vSphere for server consolidation and virtualization;
  • Applies technical knowledge of networks, operating systems and utilities to the VMware environment;
  • Provides guidance to management for changes related to virtual infrastructure;
  • Maintains awareness of VMware software patches and their impact on the environment;
  • Defines, monitors, and troubleshoots system performance within the VMware environment (vROPS);
  • Develops and maintains operational guidelines for the maintenance and support of the virtual infrastructure;
  • Evaluates resource requirements for VMware products;

Requirements

  • Bachelor`s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience;
  • 3-5 years of experience in virtualization and consolidation of server technologies, specifically VMware vSphere and ESXi Virtual Infrastructure;
  • Shell scripting experience with PowerShell, bash, Perl and/or Python;

Preferred Skills:

  • VMware Certified Associate (VCP6-DCV, VMware VCP6-NV, VMware VCA6-NV, CAPA) certificate;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
